Ultrasound

We have the ability to perform limited ultrasound diagnostics. Dr. Wardisiani is pictured performing an abdominal ultrasound on a cat.

Pharmacy

Connecting the exam room area and the treatment area is our pharmacy. This is usually a pretty busy area, filled with doctors working on patient records and staff filling prescriptions.

Treatment Room

Patients often need to be taken to our treatment area to have blood or urine samples drawn to aid in diagnostic testing and treatment. This room is also where our dental table and dental radiography unit are located for dental cleanings and exams. We have 8 cages located in this area for hospitalized patients so they are kept separate from the animals in boarding and can be under constant supervision. Blood draws, bandaging, minor surgeries and other procedures are also done in this area.

Lab

Adjacent to the treatment area is our lab, where we have the most modern equipment and experienced staff to perform in-hospital blood counts, blood chemistries and urinalysis, cytology, and fecal samples.

Isolation Room

Just off the treatment area is a room for animals that have been diagnosed with, or are suspected of having, contagious diseases. This room has separate ventilation and specific protocols for disinfection and sanitation, in order to prevent the spread of contagious diseases.

Operating Room

We have a fully equipped surgical preparation and surgery suite where routine and emergency surgical procedures are performed. All surgical patients' vital statistics are constantly monitored by a surgery technician, and special equipment is used to monitor pulse oximitry and capnography. Equipment is also available to take blood pressure measurements and EKGs.

In January 2006 we added a CO2 surgical laser to our practice. In addition to giving surgeons extreme precision, the laser also allows us to perform surgical procedures with less pain, bleeding and swelling; and a reduced risk of infection. The primary application and advantage of the laser is to decrease pain and complications of feline onychectomy (declaw) sugeries, though it is also benefical for many other procedures such as spays and growth removals. Please consult a Riser veterinarian for more information.

Dentistry

Riser Animal Hospital has full dental capabilities including preventative care, periodontics and extractions when indicated. We have dental radiography capabilities in addition to high speed air drills in order to detect and treat a wider variety of conditions. Anesthesia is often needed and the latest anesthesia techniques and pulse oximetry monitoring is used. Extra attention is given to pain control. Clients are schooled in things to do at home to minimize the occurrence of dental disease.

Radiology

Our radiology suite allows us to obtain radiographs that help with your pets' diagnosies. Occasionally, after discussion with owners, patients will have to be sedated to provide adequate relaxation for appropriate positioning.

In November of 2009, our practice upgraded to digital radiography (DR), which allows us to interpret x-rays immediately and with greater detail. Thanks to DR, your pets will spend less time in radiology and less time being stressed. In addition, digitalized radiographs can easily be carried for referral or sent via the web for specialty consults.

Grooming & Kitchen

Here we have our grooming and bathing area, where medicated baths can be performed and animals' coats can be trimmed and groomed. We also have a large variety of diets available for our boarding and hospitalized patients.

Boarding

We have 15 total small, medium, and large cages available in a separate area for our feline friends that are staying with us. Keeping the cat boarding area separate from the dog boarding area provides our feline friends a less stressful environment during their stay with us.

We also have 33 total small, medium, and large dog cages, accommodating dogs up to 40 pounds in size. Three times a day, our boarders are transferred into runs for at least 20 minutes. We are able to accommodate patients with special needs, such as regular medication or special diets. While we carry most veterinary specialty diets for in-hospital use, if your pet is on a specialty diet we do not carry, we ask that you bring a supply of the food for use during your pet's stay with us.

We hope you enjoyed this virtual tour of Riser Animal Hospital and will visit us soon with your pets!
